Terms & Conditions

Last updated:

Welcome to Maklit. These terms govern your use of the Maklit service (the “Service”) operated by [COMPANY_NAME] (“we”, “us”). By using the Service, including by creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Maklit is an online service for audio recording, automatic Hebrew and English transcription, speaker identification and meeting summaries. Depending on your plan, it includes a browser interface, installation as a web app, an application programming interface (API) and a bot that joins Google Meet meetings.

Transcripts, speaker labels and summaries are produced automatically by artificial-intelligence models. They may contain errors, omissions or misattributed speakers and must not be relied upon as an exact or official record without human review.

2. Your account

You need an account to use the Service. You must provide accurate information, keep your password and API keys confidential, and tell us immediately about any unauthorized use. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

The Service is intended for users aged 18 or over, or younger users with the consent of a parent or guardian.

4. Your content

Recordings, transcripts, summaries and any other content you upload or generate (“Your Content”) belong to you. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you.

We do not use Your Content to train models, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties except service providers that process it on our behalf as described in section 5, or as required by law.

5. Privacy, processing and data retention

Transcription and speaker identification run on open-source models that we operate, and audio files are not sent to third-party AI services. To produce a meeting summary, the transcript text (without the audio) is sent to Anthropic PBC, which processes it on our behalf with its Claude model. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not train models on this content and deletes it from its systems within 30 days, except where the law or enforcement of its usage policy requires longer retention. We also use infrastructure providers (such as hosting and storage) to run the Service.

The Service may store the location of a recording if you allow it in your browser. You can decline location sharing and still record.

How long recordings are kept depends on your plan. At the end of that period access to a recording may be blocked. You can delete a recording at any time, and it will be removed from our active systems.

We take reasonable security measures, such as encrypting traffic and storing passwords and API keys only as hashes, but no security is perfect and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

6. Acceptable use

You may not upload content you have no right to upload; attempt to bypass plan limits, quotas or security measures; reverse-engineer, scrape or place abnormal load on the Service; or use the API to make the Service access internal or unauthorized addresses.

We may suspend or block an account that breaches these terms and, where necessary, report it to the authorities.

7. API and meeting bot

Use of the API is subject to the API documentation, your plan's limits and its monthly quotas. You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for securing your webhook endpoints.

The meeting bot only joins meetings it was invited to through your personal address. The meeting organizer may need to admit it. We do not guarantee that the bot will be able to join every meeting.

8. Plans, limits and payment

The Service is offered on a free plan and additional plans, each with its own recording-time limits, retention period, quotas and features. Current plan details are shown on the website.

Paid plans are charged at the price shown when you subscribe. We may change prices and plan terms with prior notice; changes take effect from the next billing period. Cancellations are handled in accordance with Israel's Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981, where it applies.

9. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided “as is” and subject to availability. There may be faults, maintenance downtime and processing delays, especially at busy times. We may change, add or discontinue features from time to time.

We recommend keeping your own copy of important content.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, consequential or special damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from use of the Service or reliance on its output.

In any event, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

You agree to indemnify us against any third-party claim arising from a recording you made unlawfully or from your breach of these terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend the Service for an account that breached these terms, or discontinue the Service altogether with reasonable prior notice.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed solely by the laws of the State of Israel. The competent courts of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa district have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter relating to these terms or the Service.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will announce material changes on the website or by other reasonable means. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
